Reaction from former referee Ali Palabıyık after being referred to the PFDK: 'Throw mud and let it stick'

The Turkish Football Federation (TFF) has announced that, as part of a betting investigation,nine referees, including Ali Palabıyık, who have not servedas referees in the last 5 yearsand were found to have placed bets on football matches, have been referred to the PFDK with precautionary measures in accordance with Article 57 of the Football Disciplinary Instructions.

Speaking on the matter to NOW Spor,AliPalabıyık stated the following:

"I have been in America for about 4 months. I learned about the news from the messages my friendssentto me. Ilearned it. I will return to Turkey at the first opportunity.am. Throw mud, let it stick. They tried in 2022. They were unsuccessful. Even after I quit, they are still continuing to throw mud.

In noperiod of mylife have I ever placed a bet. I haveI have never been a member of any betting site. I have never given any information about any match to any acquaintance. At the head of the operation is still Ferhat Gündoğdu. He was not successful in the first attempt. By coming back for a second onemany referees wereunfairly removed fromtheir dutiesand this is still continuing!

Mehmet Büyükekşi'sterm was also thereit. That is still the case now. In the last 3 years, the removal of top-level referees from their duties one by onecoincided with the term of the same person.Therefore,allarrows and targets are pointing toward Ferhat Gündoğdu."
