Sharing on her X account, Yıldız called on citizens to head to the polls for the primary election.
Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, who was detained in a dawn operation on the morning of March 19, has been arrested on charges of corruption.
The request for his arrest in the separate terrorism investigation launched against İmamoğlu was denied.

"The issue and the target are not Ekrem İmamoğlu, but the Republic of Turkey," said Yıldız, adding, "A decision made long ago has now been formalized and put into effect."
In a post on her X account, Yıldız called on citizens to participate in the primary election, stating, "We are experiencing another one of the pitch-black moments for law, justice, and democracy. But this decision is also a harbinger that the dawn is about to break. Our first duty for our country and our nation is: let's head to the ballot box."
