Reaction from Şamil Tayyar regarding the attack on the Turkish flag: Those responsible must be held accountable

A group consisting of sympathizers of the terrorist organization PKK/YPG in northern Iraq carried out an attack on Turkey's visa application center, using developments in Syria as a pretext.

While the organization's sympathizers pelted the building with stones, some provocateurs from the group were seen climbing the exterior of the building in an attempt to reach and damage the Turkish flag. While numerous reactions were shared regarding this attack, a notable statement came from AKP member Şamil Tayyar.

Stating that such activity in the region was expected, Tayyar said that the events were allowed to happen and that those responsible for this must be held accountable.

It was known that there would be activity in Nusaybin.

Statements made by the PKK and DEM showed that Nusaybin, on the Qamishli border, had been designated as a field for provocation.

What happened was no surprise to anyone.

So, how were these provocateurs able to find the opportunity to attack our flag?

It is certain that there is a lapse in security.

The hand reaching for that flag should have been broken at that moment.

The Republic of Turkey is a great state; it will certainly hold these cowards to account, but those responsible for this lapse must also be held accountable.
