Following a moment of silence and the singing of the National Anthem,the first speech was delivered by Lieutenant Colonel Tatar's brother and KUMPASDER President Ahmet Tatar. Tatar began his remarks as follows:

"16 years first, the political powersupported and paved the way for FETÖ's creation in our countryof a process of oppression, intimidation, and lawlessnessagainst whichLieutenant Colonel Ali Tatar ignited the fire of rebellion with his own body. To protect the Republic and it against everykind of dangerto protect established totransform the Turkish Armed Forces, in the face of the attacks launched todismantlethem, he responded with rebellion against the silence and opportunism of those who could not show the necessary resistance.Here, we refresh our memory regarding the injustices and lawlessness experienced every year.However, that day...From that day to this, we are witnessingthat lawlessness and injustice—far fromdecreasing—have only intensified.We are witnessing the disregard for the Constitution, law,and justice,and the judiciary falling completely under the controlof political will,and the path to justiceWhile going through days when trust in the judiciary has reached the lowest level in the history of the Republic, the Minister of Justice of this country keeps saying, 'Turkey is a state of law.' If so, why have we been struggling for 16 years cannot reach true justice?Why is it that in this country's mediaevery daythe cries of peopleseeking justiceare ignored?rising? Why is no one in this country at peaceand does not feelsafe? Why are ourstreets sounsafe? Why are druggangs running rampant in our neighborhoods andstreets? For example; why is it that the Minguzzi family, who lost their rosy-faced babies to street gangs in broad daylight and were subsequently subjected to threats, could only find relief when Sedat Pekerstepped in to support them? Where is the state? Is justicestill the foundation of the state?”Continuing his speech, Tatar also addressed the PKK negotiations and noted the following:

“Of course, we all want peace and tranquility. But whatkind of peace is this? You cannot build peace by shaking hands with those who have blood on their hands.

This is not a path to peace, but a path to betrayal.” We do not consent to the destruction of our unitary structureor the balance of crime and punishment.You cannot ignore the pain of the families of martyrs who have mourned their losses for years.For this reason, I ask the Imrali travelers; how manymartyrs' families did you visit to ask for their consent and wintheir hearts? Shouldn't you cool the place where the fire fell and the burning hearts? Moreover, in a country where the rule of law and judicial independence do not exist, and justice is not served, who will you convince that such a burning issue can be solved? To stifle half of society while working, how will you make peace with the other half? If you are sincere,you must first seek a social consensus. Tatarconcluded his words by saying, "We cannot leave the solution to

injustices and unfairnesssolely to politicians. Because we are the ones who give them authority. The place and timeto hold them accountable is the ballot box.If we do not use our will correctly when the timecomes,the responsibility for this cannot lie solely with the politicians.We are all responsible. We must act with this responsibility in every area of lifeand take control of our own destiny. Nopower is strongerthan the organized power of the people.is not." he concluded.

"Ali, God willing, his words are right Will not fail"

The late Tatar's wife, Nilüfer Tatar, also 16 yemphasizing that nothing haschanged at all, and that the injustices that leave us all breathless continue exactly as they are, he said, "My anger does not end. When Ali left us 16 yearsago to draw attention to these injustices, he told us, 'Tell people about these injustices so that I did notdie in vain.'I will not be a part of it,' he said, conveying the message.

Retired Vice Admiral Atilla Kezek, who serves as the Head of the National Defense Policy Boardwithin the CHP Presidential Candidate Office's Executive Board,spoke here after stating that he was not speaking with another identity, but as a comrade-in-arms of Lieutenant Colonel Ali Tatar and a close friend of the Tatar family, and said the following:“Every time Iremember him,

I feelwe are mourning. As long as welive, we will continue to commemorate,remember, and remind others. Because people like Ali and Cem Aziz Çakmak only die if we forget them. 16 years ago,Ali Tatar said, 'No respect is shown to the process of lawlessness in the name oflaw'.He saidit. Hesaidthe lawlessness eventually brought the country to July 15. Have the lawlessness ended today? No, it continuesin the same way with many political cases, detentions, and arrests. Even more dire were Ali's final sentences; 'This If you continue in this way, neither the Republic will survive nor will you find a country.he had said. I hope dear Ali is not proven right inthis. In recentdays, the country's title deed, the Treaty of Lausanne, our Constitution,and our unitary structureis being discussed and debated. What for? In the name of ending terror. You will not find anyone in this country who does not want terrorism to end; but first democracy, freedom of thoughtfreedomof the press,freedom of expression,freedomof thought, human rights,law, and income inequality issues must be resolved. If these problems did not exist, there would no longer be a terrorism problem in the country either.”

CHP's shadow Minister ofInterior and Izmir Deputy Murat Bakan also noted that Ali Tatar is an immortal, symbolic figure, and a martyr of the Mustafa Kemal revolution, stating, 'That day, some thought they were all-powerful.TodayWe are experiencing the same things in one way or another. There are those in power and prosecutors who think they can do anything,' he said.“Collaboration with Imrali is a Disrespect to Our Martyrs”

Finally, martyr's spouse Yıldız Namdar, who came from Bursa to attend the commemoration ceremony, spoke as follows:

"A commander is not easily raised. Commander Ali was honorable, proud, and could not stomach what was done. He left saying, 'I put my life on the line, but you also need to do something.' Ali Tatar and all martyrs fFollowing the ceremony, which concluded with prayers,the participants visited the grave of Naval Staff Colonel MuratÖzenalp, who passed away on May 1, 2014,after suffering a brain hemorrhagewhile he was in Mamak Prisondue to the Balyoz (Sledgehammer) conspiracy case. The group also paid their respects at his gravesite.

3 years ago today, for retired Lieutenant General Vural Avar, who wasconvicted in the February 28conspiracy case and lost his life in Sincan Prison, acommemoration was held at hisgraveside at 14:30.The organized commemoration ceremony began with a moment ofsilence and the singing of the NationalAnthem.After his nephew Sinan Avar read the

biography of the late Vural Avar, he said thefollowing:following:

“Those positions were not for personal gain, but for duty, discipline, and the seriousness of the state. Throughout his life, he never gave up on the values he believed in, nor did he bow his head. He was one of those who defended what he knew to be right until the end. Even though the price was heavy, he did not compromise his honor or his military integrity. Today, we remember him not only as a commander, but as the name of standing tall against injustice.”

Retired Colonel Alican Türk, who was tried and acquitted in the same case,stated that General Vuralwas driven to his death by the February 28 case, where the rule of law was destroyed, and thatthis case, which was an FETÖconspiracy from A to Z,was a staged game called a trial, where no sentence was given, but rather a sentence wastailored.emphasizing that, "Keeping him in prison in his sick state, with broken ribs, was premeditated torture. The injustices and lawlessness committed were also premeditated murder. He is a martyr of the law. The TSK, to which hegave his life, did not even send a wreath or a uniformednot even a single soldierdid not send. We willthrow their mistakes intheir faces everytime," he said.

Vural Avar's prison friend, retired General Çetin Doğan's msent to the ceremonywas read by retired Staff Colonel İsrafil Aydın. Çetin Doğan, in his message starting with the address “Atatürk’s soldiers and my dear brothers,” stated that with Vural Avar, whom he called “brother” the security of the countryand its futurethey worked shoulder to shoulder with a great sense of responsibility,and that they were tested in the dungeon this time for the same ideals in the February 28 conspiracy case.

Those who attended the ceremonyincluded CHP Eskişehir Deputy Utku Çakırözer, who also spoke about Vural Avar’of this revenge casethat what they experienced in prison was torture, and that while the commanders were lying in prison, the murderers were releasedfrom prison, and that these events would be held to account oneday, explaining thatthe struggle for justice and law in our country never ends. We will conclude this strugglein our country, the struggle for justice and law does not end. We will conclude this strugglewhen we breakthe souls of all conspiracy martyrs will be at peace,” he said.

KUMPASDER President Ahmet Tatar spokeas follows: "When there is a problem of law and justice in the country, we are forced to move from one justice martyr to another. Vural Avar was

a refined soldier of Atatürk. His absenceis a great loss.We are commemorating an event that should not have happened. The bond between the state and the nation is established through law and justice. If that bond weakens, the lives of both are endangered. This bond is weakening everyday.In the case of General Vural, we are at the point where the bond has broken. I believe that this situation istemporaryand that we will re-establish thebond of affectionwith the state through law and justice.”

Finally, retired Colonel Tuna Avar shared these emotional words at her husband's graveside:made the statement: "You said that not even a single private attended his funeral. You know, General Avar's

ranks were stripped. He was dismissed from the Air Force Command. This dismissal letter was sent to his home while he was in prison. They did this to a commander who served this country for 40 years."When he reached the prison, he fell ill that night. As theplanes passed by, he would cry, saying, 'I was expelledfrom the institution I served for 50 years.'Was there any need to send thatletter to him? You should have sent it to me, to hislawyer. Three days before his death, his ribswere broken, and he was in pain. He wassuffering, yet they still sent him that letter.They gave a clean bill of health even though it was broken. I filed a complaint against those doctors.But it was closed.Your interest kept me standing. General Avar would have wanted me to stand tall as well.
