Reaction to the indictment from Mehmet Pehlivan, the lawyer for IMM President Ekrem İmamoğlu, who is being held in Çorlu Prison.
Mehmet Pehlivan, the imprisoned lawyer for CHP's detained presidential candidate and IMM President Ekrem İmamoğlu, stated, "As you know, two statements 'taken' under the scope of effective remorse were cited as the reason for my arrest.
However, it has been concretely proven that these statements are entirely slanderous. I was falsely accused of arranging a lawyer for a suspect. Yet, it turned out that the alleged lawyer has been that person's attorney for 14 years.
When they established an attorney-client relationship, I was still a law student," he said.
The following was recorded in a statement made from the social media account of Pehlivan, who is being held in Çorlu Prison:
"9 months have passed and there is still no indictment! The investigation file in which Mr. İmamoğlu and 104 other people are detained was launched on October 18, 2024.
Exactly 9 months have passed since that date. There is still no indictment.
There are the 'hearsay' accounts of secret witnesses; there are the slanders of accusers, but there is no indictment.
