Reaction to trustee appointments from European Parliament Turkey Rapporteur!

Reactions continue regarding the appointment of trustees to the Mardin, Batman, and Halfeti municipalities by the decision of the Ministry of Interior.

European Parliament Turkey Rapporteur Nacho Sanchez Amor made a statement regarding the removal of Mardin Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ahmet Türk, Batman Mayor Gülistan Sönük, and Şanlıurfa Halfeti Mayor Mehmet Karayılan from office and the appointment of trustees in their place.

In a post on his social media account, Sanchez Amor wrote: "And now it's the turn of Mardin, Batman and Halfeti, all clearly won by the DEM Party in the last local elections. Whatever the allegations, this trustee system is a blatant attack on democracy by the Turkish government, it usurps the will of the people, and the EU needs to give a clear answer to this."
