Reasoning for acquittal in Minguzzi murder case released

The court rulings regarding the file of Mattia Ahmet Minguzzi, who was murdered in Kadıköy, have been clarified.

Previously, two juvenile defendants had been sentenced to 24 years in prison each at the upper limit, while an 'acquittal' verdict was issued for the other two juvenile defendants who were stated to have been with the killers at the time of the incident.

The court explained the details of the reasoning for the acquittal decisions regarding these two defendants.

"LACK OF SUFFICIENT EVIDENCE"

According to the report by Muratcan Altuntoprak from Sözcü, the reason for the 'acquittal' verdict given to defendants Abdülkerim and Müslüm regarding the charge of “aiding in the intentional murder of a child” was, according to the court's assessment, “the lack of evidence sufficient for conviction beyond any reasonable doubt.”

The allegations that Müslüm “facilitated the procurement of the knife” were also compared with the security camera footage included in the file. The court stated that ‘no clear determination’ could be made in the footage to support this claim.

In the continuation of the reasoned decision, it was emphasized that the presence of the two acquitted children at the marketplace during the incident or their presence on the same metrobus after the murder ‘cannot be considered definitive proof that they participated in the crime.’
