Rebellion among AKP MPs revealed: 'The decisions made by the President and ministers...'

Due to the deliberations on many legislative proposals, such as the additional raise for retirees and the 9th Judicial Package, the extra work in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM), which was expected to go on recess on July 1 under normal conditions, continues.

Unless there is a last-minute change, the TBMM is expected to go on recess at the beginning of August.

AKP MPS ANXIOUS AHEAD OF SUMMER RECESS

According to a report in Gazete Duvar, it has been learned that AKP deputies, who are required to make many visits including to districts in their electoral regions, are anxious ahead of the summer recess.

Aside from the cost of living, the inability to provide an interim raise to the minimum wage and a flat-rate increase to retirees will put AKP MPs in a difficult position before the voters.

Evaluating this situation in the parliamentary lobby, some deputies complain, "We are not involved in the decision-making processes. But it falls to us to defend the decisions made by the President and the ministers. When we go out into the field, the citizens will hold us accountable. It will be a difficult summer."
