Regulation at the SSI: Primary care examinations are free

New regulations at the SSI have been published in the Official Gazette. According to this regulation, primary care examinations will be free of charge, while the co-payment for referred patients has been reduced to 50 percent.

Under the new regulation, no co-payment will be collected for physician and dentist examinations performed in primary healthcare services. Co-payments for other healthcare providers have been redefined.

CO-PAYMENTS ALSO REGULATED

The examination co-payment will be applied as 20 TL in secondary-level public healthcare providers, training and research hospitals, and hospitals affiliated with faculties of dentistry. In private healthcare providers, this fee has been set at 50 TL. Additionally, a 50% discount will be applied to the examination fees of patients referred by family physicians.

These changes will enter into force as of January 15, 2025. The President of the SSI will be responsible for the implementation of this communiqué.
