Release decision for students arrested during Nureddin Yıldız protest at Boğaziçi University
A release decision has been issued for students who protested the invitation of Nureddin Yıldız, who has advocated that 6-year-old children can be married, as a speaker at Boğaziçi University. During the protests in question, 97 people were detained, 6 of whom were arrested. One of those detainees was released approximately two weeks ago.

The Parent Solidarity Network stated the following in a post on social media: “A release decision has been issued by the court for our children who were arrested following the protests against Nureddin Yıldız at Boğaziçi. They are now free. We are waiting for news of their release from Silivri.”

WHAT HAPPENED?
On May 14, a total of 97 people were detained for protesting the invitation of Nureddin Yıldız, who has advocated that a 6-year-old child can be married, as a speaker to Boğaziçi University.
Police teams who entered the campus during the protest physically intervened against the students and detained some of them with reverse handcuffs.
While 82 people were released the following day, 15 people were referred to the courthouse, and 6 students among them were arrested.
