Rental price increase cap announced
According to data released by TUIK, the ceiling for rental increases, calculated based on the 12-month average inflation rate, has been set at 32.43 percent.
With the announcement of inflation data used as the basis for rental agreements in Turkey, the rent increase limit for April has become clear. According to the latest data released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), the ceiling for rental increases, calculated based on the 12-month average inflation rate, has been set at 32.43 percent.
This rate, which is calculated regularly each month, was at the 32.82 percent level last month. In April, the rate in question showed a slight decrease. Accordingly, as of April, owners of residential and commercial properties whose rental contracts are up for renewal will be able to apply an increase not exceeding 32.43 percent for the new period.
The increase rate in question is applied to both residential and commercial rentals. Limiting rental increases is of critical importance for both tenants and landlords. This legally determined ceiling for rental agreements must not be exceeded.
