Requested sentence for Timur Cihantimur announced

In the accident that occurred on March 1, 2024, in the Eyüpsultan district of Istanbul, a vehicle driven by Timur Cihantimur, who was 17 years old at the time, struck three ATV-type vehicles parked on the side of the road due to a breakdown. 29-year-old Oğuz Murat Aci lost his life in the accident.

TAKEN ABROAD AFTER THE ACCIDENT

Following the accident, it was stated that his mother, Eylem Tok, acted in coordination with individuals including his father, Bülent Cihantimur, to take her son, Timur Cihantimur, abroad.

Following the completion of the investigation, a lawsuit was filed against Timur Cihantimur seeking up to 22.5 years in prison for the death of Oğuz Murat Aci.

TRIAL DATE FOR MOTHER AND FATHER

The date when Timur Cihantimur's father, Bülent Cihantimur, and his mother, Eylem Tok, who is currently detained in the US, will appear before a judge if they are extradited to Turkey has also been clarified.

The indictment prepared in recent days has been accepted by the court.

If they are extradited from the US to Turkey, the trial of 5 defendants, including Tok, will begin on July 13 at the Istanbul 28th Criminal Court of First Instance.

A prison sentence of up to 10 years each is being requested for Eylem Tok and Bülent Cihantimur for the crimes of "aiding a criminal" and "destroying, concealing, or altering criminal evidence."

It was stated that Eylem Tok left the scene with her son after the accident, first going to Egypt and then to the US. The mother and son, who were captured in Boston, were arrested, and their extradition to Turkey was decided in February 2025.
