Requirement for ministry approval on simit prices to be taken to court: 'An unfair practice'

The Ankara Chamber of Pide and Simit Bakers will take the decision regarding the determination of simit prices following the approval of the Ministry of Trade to court.

According to the report on NTV, the Ankara Chamber of Pide and Simit Bakers will take the decision to obtain ministry approval when determining simit prices to court.

"AN UNFAIR PRACTICE AGAINST SIMIT BAKERS"

Chamber President Savaş Delibaş stated, "This is an unfair practice against simit bakers. A law cannot be nullified by a circular. The decision renders the tariff commission dysfunctional."

WHAT HAPPENED?

A new addition had been made to the 5th article of the Regulation on Price Tariffs for Goods and Services Produced by Tradesmen and Craftsmen, which was published in the Official Gazette.

Accordingly, it was decided that the price of simit and bread would be evaluated by a commission consisting of representatives from the municipality, the Provincial Directorate of Trade, the Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry, the chamber of commerce and industry or the chamber of commerce, and the relevant chamber.
