Resignation statement from Terzi, elected acting mayor of Şile Municipality: I cannot provide services under the CHP umbrella

Sacit Terzi, who was elected as the acting mayor of Şile Municipality in the election held after CHP member Özgür Kabadayı was arrested and suspended from his post as Şile Mayor as part of a "corruption" investigation, has announced his resignation from the CHP.

In a statement on his social media account, Terzi said, "Having reached the conclusion that I cannot provide beneficial services to the people of Şile under the CHP umbrella, I respectfully announce to the public that I have resigned from the Republican People's Party."

In his post, Terzi stated, "It has always been a great honor and responsibility for me to serve our Şile in particular and to be involved in efforts that will add value to the lives of our fellow citizens. I will continue to work with all my strength for the development, peace, and future of Şile, just as I have done until today.

However, over time, I have witnessed that the expectations of our country, our Şile, and our nation have changed significantly. In the face of this change, I believe that politics must also be conducted with a solution-oriented, inclusive, constructive, and service-oriented approach. For me, politics is the name of uniting rather than dividing, compromising rather than conflicting, and producing works and services rather than generating polemics.

The primary duty of politics is to prioritize the common interests of our nation and to produce permanent solutions that touch the lives of our citizens. This decision is not the result of any resentment, anger, or personal expectation. On the contrary, it is the natural consequence of long evaluations, a conscientious accounting, and the responsibility to serve our Şile more effectively.

In the coming period, regardless of the duty or responsibility I hold, my sole priority, without regard for position or title, will be to serve our Şile, our nation, and our country in the best way possible. Having reached the conclusion that I cannot provide beneficial services to the people of Şile under the CHP umbrella, I respectfully announce to the public that I have resigned from the Republican People's Party."
