Following the public announcement of the expulsion decision, Hasbi Dede released a press statement via his social media account, arguing that he had left the party of his own volition.
Dede stated, "I am resigning so that the discussions carried out over my person do not become any more of a burden to my fellow travelers," adding that he made this decision in order to conduct his legal struggle more effectively.
In his statement, Dede said, "In this sensitive process we are going through, I am resigning from my party as of today so that the discussions carried out over my person do not become any more of a burden to the Republican People's Party, to which I have given my heart, and to my fellow travelers.
I am taking this decision both to protect my party's corporate identity and to allow the legal struggle I am conducting against the baseless allegations against me to proceed more healthily.
I feel it is a debt of gratitude to sincerely thank all my friends and fellow citizens who have not withheld their support from me during this process."
