Response from CHP to Minister Bolat: 'Buy some disinfectant, Mr. Minister!'

Following the operation launched against the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) and the arrest of İBB Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, the protests that have risen are continuing today with an economic boycott across Turkey.

Following CHP Chairman Özgür Özel's call to boycott certain companies, the general economic boycott initiated by university students has reached a wide level of participation with the support of political parties.

MINISTER ON A 'SHOPPING' TOUR

The AKP government continues to blame those participating in the boycott. Trade Minister Ömer Bolat shared photos of his shopping in Ankara on his social media account today.

'A DAY OF SOLIDARITY'

While Minister Bolat used the phrases 'Today is the day to support the national economy; a day of production, trade, employment, consumption, and solidarity' in one post, he criticized those calling for a boycott in another, describing them as 'calls made by some opposition groups with the aim of harming our country, our trade, our tradesmen, and our producers.'

RESPONSE FROM CHP'S BAŞARIR

The reaction to Bolat came from CHP Group Deputy Chairman Ali Mahir Başarır. Başarır responded by saying, 'Call Ms. Ruhsar and buy some disinfectant for the ministry too, Mr. Minister!'
