Response to CHP Chairman Özgür Özel's claims regarding Minister Şimşek and MASAK
The Ministry of Treasury and Finance has issued a statement regarding the claims made by CHP Chairman Özgür Özel against Minister Mehmet Şimşek.
The statement emphasized that it is out of the question for the ministry's management authorities to have prior knowledge of reports prepared by the Financial Crimes Investigation Board (MASAK) or to be involved in the process in any way.
Özel had claimed that Minister Şimşek was involved in the reports in question and that actions were taken with his knowledge.
In the written statement issued by the ministry regarding the matter, it was pointed out that the issue had been clearly stated in a previous announcement made to the public by MASAK, and the following expressions were used:
"The prepared reports are forwarded directly to the requesting judicial authorities without being presented to the knowledge or approval of any authority other than the MASAK Presidency; it is out of the question for the ministry's management authorities to have prior knowledge of this process or to be involved in this process in any way.
In this context, the accusations made against our Minister and the ugly expressions used are in no way acceptable and do not align with state decorum or political ethics."
