Rezan Epözdemir reveals: Minguzzi was threatened before he was murdered!

The defendants in the case of 15-year-old Mattia Ahmet Minguzzi, who was stabbed to death at a flea market in Kadıköy on January 24, 2025, appeared before the judge for the second time. Many citizens came to the Anatolian Courthouse in Kartal to show their support. The crowd gathered in the courthouse courtyard chanted, "Justice for Mattia Ahmet."

Making a statement in front of the courthouse, Rezan Epözdemir, the lawyer for the Minguzzi family, said that if 'unjust provocation' and 'good conduct' reductions are not applied, the maximum sentence the perpetrators will receive will be 24 years in prison.

"Mattia Ahmet Minguzzi and his friends did not encounter the perpetrator for the first time at the flea market," said Epözdemir, stating that the motive for the murder was an incident that took place in a park, and that they had determined the perpetrators had split into two groups to find Minguzzi. Lawyer Epözdemir said, "The incident begins with these criminals threatening Ahmet Minguzzi and his friends in a park beforehand. Afterwards, they go down to the marketplace. It is completely planned, programmed, and organized," he said.

"OUR LEGAL STRUGGLE WILL CONTINUE TO THE END"

Noting that their requests for a crime scene reconstruction were rejected and that 2 witnesses would be heard at the hearing, Epözdemir said, "We went to the scene and spoke with the shopkeepers there. As of yesterday, 2 perpetrators were arrested for 'aiding in intentional homicide.' The greatest shame is this; after committing the murder, these perpetrators are telling each other at the metrobus stop how they slaughtered Ahmet. It is an approach contrary to the human quality of being human. There is no remorse here; I hope justice will be served. Our legal struggle will continue to the end," he said.
