ROK joins the Rezan Epözdemir controversy: 'He works together with Mehmet Uçum's son'

Lawyer Rezan Epözdemir was taken into custody as part of an investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.

The accusations directed at Epözdemir include bribery, political and military espionage, and aiding FETÖ.

The investigation launched into lawyer Rezan Epözdemir has also caused tension among cliques within the government.

Former AKP deputy Şamil Tayyar called on President Erdoğan, requesting support against the pressures on Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor Akın Gürlek, who is conducting the investigation. Tayyar also pointed to Mehmet Uçum from the Palace regarding the investigation.

In a statement on his social media account, Tayyar stated that the detention period was extended because Epözdemir did not provide his phone password, saying, "Many 'influential' names, especially Mehmet Uçum, have stepped in and besieged Chief Public Prosecutor Akın Gürlek. Gürlek is overwhelmed by the intense pressure he did not even face in the İmamoğlu file, and he is worried about a smear campaign being launched against him."

Following Şamil Tayyar's remarks on Mehmet Uçum, another striking allegation came from Rasim Ozan Kütahyalı.

Kütahyalı stated that Mehmet Uçum's son works with Rezan Epözdemir and that it is a topic of conversation in Turkish courthouses that Rezan Epözdemir and Mehmet Uçum are partners in judicial affairs.
