RTÜK imposes a flurry of penalties in the final board meeting of the year

The Radio and Television Supreme Council (RTÜK) has imposed sanctions on several broadcasters for violating regulations. In its final meeting of the year, RTÜK decided to sanction 6 broadcasters. The board imposed sanctions on Sözcü TV due to remarks made by guest MP Turhan Çömez regarding Minister of Health Kemal Memişoğlu on the "Arena" program, as well as accusations and insults directed at Türk-İş President Ergün Atalay.

PENALTIES FOR SZC TV AND HALK TV

A sanction decision was also issued against Sözcü TV regarding statements made about AK Party Ankara MP Osman Gökçek. Halk TV was also fined for statements made about Gökçek.

A sanction decision was issued against Flash Haber for a broadcast guest who described Turkey as an occupier in Syria.

Sanctions were imposed on the program "Söz Bizde" on Tele 1 for remarks that violated the personal rights of Minister of National Education Yusuf Tekin.

At the RTÜK meeting, a sanction decision was also taken against Tele 1 due to Merdan Yanardağ's claims that the "government has made a deal with Israel."

ŞAKİR PAŞA FAMILY AND KIZIL GONCALAR

The production titled "Şakir Paşa Ailesi: Mucizeler ve Skandallar" on NOW was also reviewed. It was decided to impose an administrative fine on the broadcaster due to elements containing sexuality, such as children looking at photos of naked women and talking about what they saw.

The Supreme Council imposed a second administrative fine on NOW for the violence scenes in the series "Kızıl Goncalar," on the grounds that it violated the provision in Law No. 6112 stating, "Broadcast services cannot encourage or normalize violence."

An administrative fine was also decided against Akit TV due to violations of broadcasting principles in the "Kırmızı Masa" program, which hosted Mehmet Ali Ağca.
