RTÜK issues fraud warning to broadcasting organizations
The Radio and Television Supreme Council (RTÜK) has issued a warning against fraudsters who use the names of the institution and the RTÜK President to demand money from broadcasting organizations under the guise of aid and donations, announcing that legal proceedings have been initiated regarding the fake calls.
The Radio and Television Supreme Council (RTÜK) has warned the public and broadcasters against fraud attempts targeting broadcasting organizations by using the names of the institution and the RTÜK President.
In a statement made on RTÜK's official social media account, broadcasters were urged to be cautious against the recent increase in fake calls. The statement included the following: "An important warning to radio and television broadcasters. One must be cautious against fraud attempts made using the names of RTÜK and the RTÜK President."
In the same post, it was stated that some broadcasting organizations were called by phone using the name of RTÜK President Mehmet Daniş and that money was requested under various pretexts. Regarding this situation, it was stated: "It has been determined that in recent days, some radio and television broadcasting organizations have been called by phone using the name of RTÜK President Mehmet Daniş, and financial demands have been made for aid, donations, or various other reasons."
Emphasizing that such calls should absolutely not be given any credence, RTÜK announced that the process has been moved to a legal dimension. The statement continued: "These calls, made by individuals introducing themselves as the President of the Radio and Television Supreme Council, a member of the Supreme Council, or RTÜK personnel, should never be trusted. All such requests are fraud attempts. Necessary criminal complaints have been filed by our institution against the person or persons making these fake calls, legal processes have been initiated, and the process is being followed meticulously."
