RTÜK member İlhan Taşçı: 'TRT's Tabii is broadcasting illegally'
RTÜK member İlhan Taşçı announced in a social media statement that Tabii, the platform launched by TRT some time ago, is broadcasting illegally. Taşçı reacted sharply, stating, "It is not obtaining a license from RTÜK, and because it lacks a license, RTÜK does not audit its content."
It has emerged that the Radio and Television Supreme Council (RTÜK), which has become a tool of the government, is not auditing Tabii, the platform launched by TRT some time ago.
RTÜK member İlhan Taşçı stated in a post on his social media account, "There is no exceptional legislation that would allow this platform to broadcast without obtaining a license. It is not obtaining a license from RTÜK, and because it lacks a license, RTÜK does not audit its content."
Taşçı's post is as follows:
"TRT's Tabii is broadcasting illegally, and RTÜK is just watching!
The digital platform Tabii, which is touted as Turkey's digital platform, is broadcasting illegally without a license!
However, just like other digital platforms, Tabii was required to obtain a license from RTÜK, but it did not. RTÜK also did not make an official attempt for licensing; it watched the illegal broadcast. Yet, Tabii continues to collect fees from its members like clockwork.
Thus, it is paying neither the RTÜK share required per subscriber nor the broadcasting license and authorization fees.
There is no exceptional legislation that would allow this platform to broadcast without obtaining a license.
It is not obtaining a license from RTÜK, and because it lacks a license, RTÜK does not audit its content.
If it doesn't get a license, who can audit me!"
