RTÜK President Ebubekir Şahin issues warning to 'broadcasting organizations'

In his statement, Şahin used the following expressions:

A Clear and Very Important Warning to Broadcasting Organizations!

As we have stated before; regarding the investigations conducted by our Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, our media must act with moderation,

We have issued the necessary warnings regarding giving space to official information and statements from authorities rather than biased and untrue news, and conducting broadcasting in accordance with laws and principle decisions, and subsequently, we have applied sanctions ranging up to program suspensions at the maximum limit in our first Supreme Council meeting regarding broadcasting organizations that do not comply with the laws.

I would like to state that; as the Radio and Television Supreme Council, it is announced with importance and repeatedly that sanctions, including long-term broadcast suspensions and ultimately license cancellations, will be applied to broadcasting organizations that broadcast outside the law, invite the public to the streets, bring commentators to the screen who make statements like spokespersons for illegal organizations, engage in biased broadcasting activities contrary to individual rights, and include expressions and broadcasts that amount to insults or even threats against state officials, members of the judiciary conducting the investigation, police personnel, and law enforcement officers.

In this process, I would like to thank our broadcasting organizations that broadcast with moderation and act with the effort to inform the public in an impartial manner, and I would like to state that we are warning the broadcasting organizations, which do not take our warnings into account and continue illegal broadcasts, and which do not exceed a few in number, for the last time as a caution.
