Warning from RTÜK President Ebubekir Şahin regarding the 'Narin Güran murder' trial: 'During and after the hearing'

Radio and Television Supreme Council (RTÜK) President Ebubekir Şahin made a statement on his social media account regarding the 'Narin Güran murder' case.

In his statement, Şahin included the following remarks:

"As is known to the public, a new hearing for the murder case of our daughter Narin will be held tomorrow.

We expect responsibility and sensitivity from our media during and after the hearing.

I insistently invite our media, which unfortunately pushed the boundaries of broadcasting principles during the initial investigation phase, to be extremely careful this time.

Our goal is for the truth to emerge.

It is essential to avoid attitudes that would jeopardize the outcome, such as the disclosure of evidence under confidentiality that has entered the file.

The 'audiovisual media ethical principles,' which all our broadcasters have signed and approved, are clear in our law.

Necessary legal sanctions will be applied against irresponsible broadcasters who do not comply with these principles.

I remind you of this with importance, and I thank our principled journalists and wish them success."
