The scandal that emerged on the program Esra Erol'da, broadcast on ATV, has become a major topic of discussion in Turkey. It was revealed that 21-year-old Cuma Doğan was having an illicit affair with his fiancée's mother, Güldane Şahin (47), and that the woman had become pregnant from this relationship.

While reactions poured in against this ugly incident, RTÜK took action.

RTÜK Chairman Ebubekir Şahin made an official statement regarding the Esra Erol'da program following the scandalous event. In his statement, Şahin said, "An investigation has been launched regarding the broadcast that has come to the public's attention concerning the program Esra Erol'da, aired on ATV, and the necessary procedures will be carried out immediately."

Issuing warnings to other broadcasting organizations as well, Şahin noted the following:

We once again importantly remind our broadcasting organizations of the “Principle Decisions” we have adopted regarding such programs, emphasizing that they must act more sensitively and responsibly, particularly concerning family structure, the protection of children, and social values.

Respectfully announced to the public."
