Following Russia's decision to transfer the local operations of AB InBev Efes to temporary management, Anadolu Efes has announced that it will evaluate the matter with its partners and take the necessary steps.
Russia has transferred the Russian operations of AB InBev Efes, a joint venture between Turkey's Anadolu Efes and Belgium's AB InBev, to temporary management. The company, which operates with 11 breweries and 3 malt production facilities in the country, stands out as one of the three largest beer producers in Russia.
STATEMENT FROM EFES
Anadolu Efes made a statement regarding the decision to the Public Disclosure Platform (KAP). The statement included the following: "Today, a decree was issued by Russia transferring the Russian portion of our joint venture (JV) with AB InBev to temporary management."
The company stated that this situation will be evaluated comprehensively with AB InBev and that all necessary steps will be taken to protect their rights.
Established in 2018, AB InBev Efes had been operating as the last major foreign player in the Russian beer sector, which has long been under foreign capital control. However, this decision signifies that foreign influence in the sector is being brought entirely under local control.
