Russia: UK to attack Russian bases in Syria

On December 8, Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) took over de facto control of Syria under Bashar al-Assad's administration. It was also decided that the established interim government would serve until March 1, 2025. As the balance of power in the country is being re-established, the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) has claimed that British intelligence is planning to organize terrorist attacks against Russian military bases in Syria.

'THEY WANT TO MAINTAIN THE CHAOS'

In a statement from the SVR, it was alleged that the US and the UK are trying to prevent stability in Syria in order to maintain the chaotic environment in the Middle East. The statement included the words, "Washington and London believe that they can reach their own geopolitical goals quickly in this way."

'NEW ADMINISTRATION WILL BE BLAMED'

On the other hand, it was claimed that the role in the allegedly planned attack "was given to ISIS terrorist organization militants released from prisons by the new administration" and the statement continued: "London and Washington think that such provocations will encourage Russia to evacuate its troops from Syria. Thus, the new administration in Syria will be blamed for being unable to control radical groups."
