Sad news from Nevşehir: Gendarmerie non-commissioned officer martyred during training
In Nevşehir, a fellow soldier who was allegedly accidentally shot by a non-commissioned officer performing a load-unload drill during training has been martyred, despite all medical interventions at the hospital.
It is alleged that Communication Senior Sergeant Yasin Mahid Toparlak, serving at the Nevşehir Provincial Gendarmerie Command, was performing dry-fire training when his weapon accidentally discharged. The bullet grazed Toparlak's hand before striking his fellow soldier, Combat Engineer Senior Master Sergeant Hüseyin Uzun, in the abdomen.

While both non-commissioned officers were injured in the incident, medical teams were dispatched to the scene upon notification. The injured officers were taken to the hospital by ambulance following initial treatment at the scene; however, Combat Engineer Senior Master Sergeant Hüseyin Uzun, who was shot in the abdomen, could not be saved despite all interventions at the hospital and was martyred. Sergeant Toparlak's treatment is ongoing.
The investigation launched into the incident continues.
