Sadettin Tantan reacts to Israel's 'Artificial Islands' project: 'It will create new problems in the Mediterranean'

Tantan emphasized that Israel's plans to build artificial islands could create major difficulties in the region and that this situation would strengthen Greece's continental shelf claims.

Stating that these developments further increase the geostrategic and geopolitical importance of Cyprus, Tantan said, "It is no coincidence that there is a desire to remove Turkey from Cyprus.

It is also obvious that if Israel builds artificial islands, it will support Greece's thesis on the continental shelf."

"TURKEY MUST DEVELOP MORE STRATEGIC POLICIES"

Tantan stated that it has become inevitable for Turkey to produce more active and strategic policies regarding the Aegean Islands and the Cyprus issue, noting that Israel's maritime defense network is structured in a remarkable way. He said that this defense network, established with a patrol boat every 4.5 kilometers, reveals Israel's fear in the region. Tantan said, "Turkey is not an enemy of Israel. Turkey is the leading country in the region, and Israel must accept this leadership."

Pointing out that Turkish politics must take the steps required by this leadership, Tantan stated that otherwise, Turkey would jeopardize its gains.

Tantan emphasized that Israel's planned artificial islands in the Mediterranean must never be allowed. He noted that the article titled "Israel's maritime defense wall and efforts to create acceptable states in the Mediterranean" by Prof. Dr. Ali Arslan from Istanbul University is highly valuable regarding Israel's maritime defense wall and its efforts to create acceptable states in the Mediterranean.
