Şahan Gökbakar reacts to Instagram restriction: 'You just don't use it, that's it'

 Comedian Şahan Gökbakar has reacted to the access block imposed by the Information and Communication Technologies Authority (BTK) on the social media platform Instagram yesterday. 

In a video he released following the imposition of the access block, Gökbakar mocked the ban, and in his post today, he called for Instagram to be reopened. 

In his first post, Gökbakar stated the following:

 "Instagram deleted your posts. It censored you unfairly, and you want to react to this. The biggest reaction you could give would be to close your Instagram accounts and not use Instagram.

'WHAT RIGHT DO YOU HAVE TO SHUT DOWN THE ENTIRE INSTAGRAM FOR A WHOLE COUNTRY?'

You could close the Instagram accounts of all state officials and institutions. You could say, 'We are no longer using Instagram at any level of this state.' You move on. What right do you have to stand up and shut down the entire Instagram for a whole country? Many people make their living from this platform. What does it mean to shut it down completely? This unlawful and arbitrary administration should be abandoned, and Instagram should be opened immediately. #GiveBackInstagram #OpenInstagram!" 

Following this, Gökbakar made another post and continued his remarks:

"Hamas is considered a terrorist organization in America. Its leaders are also seen as leaders of a terrorist organization. Instagram is an American company. Therefore, it applies censorship to posts where something it views as a terrorist organization is shared.

'YOU JUST DON'T USE THE APP, THAT'S IT'

But at the same time, Instagram is a platform that plays a key role in seeing and exposing the war crimes, massacres, and genocide committed by Israel. Therefore, if you say, 'How can Instagram remove my post? This is censorship, I don't accept it,' then you close your Instagram account and you don't use this app. That's it. Is it reasonable to shut down Instagram in a whole country because of this incident? Reverse this arbitrary decision and #OpenInstagram!"
