Salmonella detected in 1 truckload of carcass meat! CHP's Adem reacts to Minister Yumaklı over imported meat

Asking whether the meat that went to the Meat and Milk Board (ESK) Denizli facility and was found to contain salmonella was sold to citizens, Adem asked Minister of Agriculture and Forestry İbrahim Yumaklı in his statement: “Mr. Minister, we demand that these questions be answered on behalf of the public: 'Was the diseased meat imported from Ukraine held at customs in compliance with the necessary risk period and conditions? Or was it sent to the Meat and Milk Board Denizli facility without being held for the required time? What happened to the meat that went to the Meat and Milk Board Denizli facility before the disease was detected? Was this meat offered for sale in Meat and Milk Board stores? Did our people buy this meat? How can you bring this meat into the country before the tests are concluded? How can you put public health at risk? As the Minister of Agriculture of this country, how can you turn a blind eye to the increase in animal diseases in the country and our people consuming unhealthy meat?'”

CALLED FOR RESIGNATION

Calling on Minister Yumaklı and all those responsible to resign, Adem said the following:

"Mr. Minister, you cannot play with public health just to lower meat prices, you cannot turn a blind eye to the public eating diseased meat. You are clearly committing a crime according to Article 186 of the Turkish Penal Code. In the face of this negligence and grave incident, we call on you and all other responsible parties to resign immediately. You and the managers of your Ministry who are responsible for this incident are committing the crime of endangering public health. We demand that immediate steps be taken on this matter for the health of our people."
