Response from Şamil Tayyar to Destici: 'You can eat a big bite, but don't talk big'
Former AKP MP Şamil Tayyar reacted sharply to BBP leader Mustafa Destici, who linked criticism of the 750 TL tax to be collected from credit cards to treason. Tayyar asked, "With this decision, has our President also become a traitor, a Greek, an Armenian, or something else?"
Former AKP MP Şamil Tayyar criticized the harsh language used by BBP leader Mustafa Destici against those who criticized the collection of a 750 TL tax from credit cards. Responding to Destici's remarks, Tayyar noted that President Erdoğan had this tax deduction
POSTPONED UPON THE PRESIDENT'S INSTRUCTION
The regulation, which envisioned collecting a 750 TL annual tax from those with credit card limits exceeding 100,000 TL, was postponed upon the instruction of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. Stating that the President prevented social backlash with this decision, Tayyar used the following expressions:
"That package was prepared without considering how it would bring society together or divide it. This is where the politician steps in, because they are the ones who will be held accountable. This package was withdrawn, and the 750 TL payment was completely removed. Common sense required this; it was the most correct step."

'HAS OUR PRESIDENT ALSO BECOME A TRAITOR WITH THIS DECISION?'
Opposing BBP leader Mustafa Destici's criticism of those who opposed the credit card tax with the words, "Those who have a 100,000 lira limit and do not pay the 750 lira credit card fee are defending DEM, Greece, and Armenia," Tayyar responded to Destici with these words:
"So what happened now? With this decision, has our President also become a traitor, a Greek, an Armenian, or something else? You can eat a big bite, but don't talk big."
Expressing that society expects sacrifice from its leaders, Tayyar said that public officials living in economic comfort damage the public's trust. He expressed his proposal on the matter as follows:
"While society pays the price, it expects administrators to give up public comfort as well. If this does not happen, the sense of trust is damaged. For example, the 6,000 TL holiday bonus given to retired members of parliament, generals, and high judicial bodies should be abolished."
