Saymaz responds to Akşener, who invited him to be honest

Former İYİ Party Chair Meral Akşener, who remained silent for a long time after her meeting with AKP Chair and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, made a statement on her social media account today. 

A response has come to Akşener, who targeted journalist İsmail Saymaz following reports about the meeting. Saymaz made the following statements in his broadcast on SÖZCÜ TV:  

I spoke with her while I was calling İYİ Party members to find out what Ms. Meral had discussed. She is currently a deputy in the İYİ Party, a deputy for two terms. 

Until the last party congress, she was a figure close to Akşener. She made a request to me regarding a businessman's case pending at the Court of Cassation; the meeting was held for this reason.

After explaining this, she said, "What a waste of our efforts." I did not invent this claim—the claim that she went to the Presidency to make a request to resolve a legal matter of a businessman that was stalled at the Court of Cassation. I did not express it out of the blue.

I stated it based on a person who has been a deputy in the İYİ Party for two terms. I suppose Meral Akşener is the one who puts this person on the list. And they were one of the people closest to her. Upon this, I called the businessman in question. He said that this claim is not true, and because of this, my case at the Court of Cassation could result against me. I explained this on the broadcast as well, saying that the businessman does not confirm it.

"SHE PROBABLY BLOCKED ME"

The detail I did not explain was this: I called Esma Bekar, known as Meral Akşener's chief of staff. I called for two days in a row. Her phone is constantly busy.

She probably blocked me. The reason for her blocking me is as follows: There is a lawsuit between her and Ümit Dikbayır…

Ümit Dikbayır or his lawyer said, "I did not speak to three journalists about Esma Bekar." I was one of those journalists.

"MY SOURCE IS AN İYİ PARTY DEPUTY"

Following this, Esma Bekar called me 10 days ago and said, "Ümit Dikbayır said such and such, I am summoning you to the hearing, just so you know." I am already familiar with it, I will come and speak.

She called me for this reason, I called back, but she does not answer the phone. What can I do? Even her closest friends cannot reach Meral Akşener. Sometimes Erdoğan sees her, no one else does.

Her advisor has probably blocked me. That is how I interpret it. I have a lawyer friend who is an İYİ Party member; he tried as well, and his call is also busy. Your advisor has blocked me, no one can reach you. How am I supposed to ask about this claim?

I tried to reach Meral Akşener. I did not explain this on the broadcast; I wish I had. I am stating my source: an İYİ Party deputy. I said this, and Meral Akşener says this is not true. She says you are slandering.

"HANDE FIRAT SAID IT THREE DAYS AGO"

The second point is this: The information that she rented an office on Cinnah Street, near the Parliament. There is more, I didn't write it. Items are being moved from Meral Akşener's house to there. I brought this information to light, but Hande Fırat said it three days before me. Fırat said, "She is renting an office on Cinnah. I confirmed this from two sources, one of whom is Burak Akburak. He told me the office would be rented on Cinnah.

By the way, I confirmed it from a third source as well, and that person was an İYİ Party executive. 

"SHE SHOULD QUESTION HER OWN POLITICAL PAST"

Dozens of claims were made regarding Ms. Meral's meeting at the Presidency. Is the claim about her son being appointed Ambassador to Paris any lighter than this? Or is the claim of an offer for Vice Presidency less significant than my claim? She does not answer.

She does not respond to the claim that she requested an ambassadorship for her own son, yet she opposes the information I brought up, which I also voiced based on an İYİ Party deputy.

And she questions my journalism, despite the fact that I had already announced the information about her renting an office. Instead of questioning my journalism, she should question her own political past. What does it have to do with me?
