Scandal at illegal mine: 'Kidney bargaining' claim from colleagues of burned Afghan miner!

In Zonguldak, two cousins who worked with 50-year-old Afghan national Vezir Mohammad Nourtani, who was found burned after working in an unlicensed mine, stated in a video they recorded that they were forced to testify that they 'saw nothing' and recounted what happened on the day of the incident.

"THEY KILLED MY HUSBAND FOR HIS KIDNEY!"

The two cousins, who are currently in Iran and sent the video they recorded to Nourtani's wife, described the kidney bargaining that took place at the illegal mine. Kamergül Meliki, who claims her husband was killed for his kidney, said, "Until now, I thought they killed my husband for his kidney; I am certain now because of this video."

On November 10, 2023, in Zonguldak, passersby noticed a burned body in the forest by the roadside and reported it. The body, which was determined to have been doused with gasoline and set on fire, was taken to the morgue of Atatürk State Hospital for an autopsy.

ILLEGAL WORKER IN AN UNLICENSED MINE!

It was determined that the body belonged to Vezir Mohammad Nourtani, an Afghan national and father of three, who worked in the illegally operated mine. While the autopsy determined that Nourtani died on November 9, 2023, it was learned that his family had filed a missing person report before the body was found.

3 PEOPLE ARRESTED

The Afghan miner's funeral was held on November 11 last year. The owners of the illegal mine where Nourtani worked, Hakan Körnöş (46), Enver Gideroğlu (34), and Körnöş's cousin Ahmet Aydın (52), were arrested.

Mine workers S.K. (28), E.D. (22), and coal trader A.Ç. (46) were released under judicial control conditions. It was determined that the illegal mine had been closed by the gendarmerie 4 days before the incident, but the owners had reopened it afterward. The illegal mine was demolished and closed following the incident.

LAWSUIT AGAINST 6 DEFENDANTS, 3 IN CUSTODY

In the indictment prepared regarding the incident, it was stated that the Afghan miner had a work accident after getting stuck between wagons in the illegal mine, and that the mine owners acted out of fear that 'the mine would be closed if the incident was revealed.'

The indictment, which mentions that Vezir Mohammad Nourtani was burned after losing his life, states that a lawsuit was filed against 6 defendants, 3 of whom are in custody, with a request for life imprisonment for the crime of 'intentional killing in participation.'

The autopsy and Forensic Medicine Specialized Board report stated that some parts of the body were burned to the point of carbonization, noting, "Due to the high degree of burns, the stomach, left kidney, pancreas, and intestines could not be distinguished."

VIDEO FROM HIS FRIENDS

Cousins Anmet Ahmedi and Ahmet Ahmedi, who worked with Nourtani at the illegal mine at the time and are currently in Iran, recorded a video and sent it to the deceased miner's wife, Kamergül Meliki.

In the video, the cousins stated that they were forced to testify that they 'saw nothing' and alleged that they heard Nourtani arguing inside the mine.

"THEY COULD NOT AGREE ON THE KIDNEY BARGAIN!"

In the video, the Afghan miners explained that Nourtani said he had been offered 10 thousand dollars for his kidney, but he did not accept the offer because he wanted 30 thousand dollars.

"THE DECEASED WANTED 30 THOUSAND, THEY SAID 10 THOUSAND"

Kamergül Meliki, who had previously claimed in court that her husband was killed for his kidney, said that she was certain of her suspicions due to the video sent to her. Meliki said, "They had a kidney bargain with the deceased. The deceased wanted 30 thousand, they said 10 thousand. The deceased told his colleagues. Because they knew too, they heard it.

The deceased was upstairs, his friends were downstairs. They heard the sound of an argument over the intercom. They tried to go upstairs 3 times, but they didn't allow it. His friends didn't go either. When I asked, they said 'we don't know.' They didn't say anything so that 'we wouldn't get into trouble, we wouldn't be deported.'

One month after the incident, the police caught them at their homes at 05:00 in the morning, took them to a camp, and they were forcibly deported. When they crossed from Afghanistan to Iran, they told me what they saw and heard in the video. Until now, I thought they killed my husband for his kidney; I am certain now because of this video."

Kamelgül Meliki will submit the video of the workers explaining the incident to the Zonguldak High Criminal Court through her lawyer and request that their statements be taken.

If the court accepts the request, the statements of the 2 workers will be taken at the embassy in Iran through the method of international judicial assistance.
