Scandalous defense from his lawyer: Eylem Tok's son Timur Cihantimur reportedly attempted suicide in prison

The trial of 17-year-old unlicensed driver Timur Cihantimur, who caused the death of Oğuz Murat Aci by hitting a group on the side of the road in Istanbul's Kemerburgaz on March 1, continues in the US.

New details have emerged regarding the hearing of Cihantimur, whose detention was ordered to continue.

During the hearing, it was stated that Cihantimur had attempted suicide in prison and had been stripped naked for security reasons.

HIS LAWYER BEGGED: RELEASE HIM

Journalist Emrullah Erdinç recounted the events of the hearing during a live broadcast on social media.

Cihantimur's lawyer's remarks, "I beg you, release this young man on bail; we guarantee he will not flee," drew attention.

“HIS FATHER IS VERY POWERFUL, THEY WILL FLEE”

The prosecutor appointed by the US Department of Justice stated that Cihantimur has a tendency to flee, saying, "His father is very powerful and has a lot of money; they could easily flee with this money." The prosecutor emphasized that Cihantimur should not be released.

“HE ATTEMPTED SUICIDE”

Cihantimur's lawyer stated that the defendant's prison conditions were poor, that he had been kept in solitary confinement for three days, and that he had attempted suicide. Following these allegations, the court decided to launch an investigation into the prison.

“HIS LIFE IS NOT SAFE”

Another lawyer for the defendant argued that Cihantimur's life would be in danger if he were extradited to Turkey. Furthermore, the lawyer stated that the defendant is a US citizen and that remaining in the country is necessary for his safety.
