It has been revealed that one of the perpetrators of the attack on the Santa Maria Church on January 28, 2024, which resulted in one death, was detained and subsequently released during an operation against ISIS six months prior.
A striking claim has emerged regarding the Santa Maria Church attacker.
DETAINED AND RELEASED!
According to Halk TV columnist İsmail Saymaz, one of the perpetrators of the attack on the Santa Maria Church on January 28, 2024, which resulted in one death, was detained and released during an operation against the terrorist organization ISIS six months ago.
During the attack, which took place in a church where Polish Consul General Witold Maciej Lesniak and his family were also present, a Turkish citizen named Tuncer Cihan lost his life. The attackers, Tajik nationals David Tanduev and Amırjon Kholikov, were captured on the same day in the house where they were hiding. A lawsuit was filed at the Istanbul 26th High Criminal Court against 43 defendants, including Tanduev and Kholikov.
CLAIMS OF NEGLIGENCE
According to what Saymaz reported from the indictment of the case, David Tanduev was detained on July 5, 2023, during operations conducted as part of an investigation by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office into ISIS. However, it is understood that he was released after his statement was taken. This situation is considered a significant act of negligence that occurred six months before the church attack.
Furthermore, it is stated that Amırjon Kholikov was also known to the prosecutor's office and was mentioned in the statements of Jovid Hikmatov, a Tajik national whose testimony was taken as part of the investigation.
