The AKP government has begun preparations for a new legislative proposal regarding the euthanasia of stray animals.

AKP sources stated that the issue exceeds the capacity of the responsible municipalities, adding that under the new regulation, municipalities will photograph dogs in shelters and publish advertisements for their adoption.

The advertisements will remain on websites to be established by the municipalities for a period of 30 days. Dogs that do not find a home within this period will be euthanized by injection.

Famous singer Ayşe Hatun Önal expressed her reaction by targeting CHP Chairman Özgür Özel and CHP Group Deputy Chairman Ali Mahir Başarır, who had criticized the preparations for the legislative proposal in question.

Sharing a photo of Özel and Başarır together on her social media account, Önal used the expression, "The best you could be is aged kashar cheese, and we would melt that and feed it to the dogs."
