Scandalous remarks from PKK member Çetin Arkaş, who murdered 12 citizens in 1991: 'Do we look like we have any regrets?'

As the second peace process—architected by MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli and dubbed "Terror-Free Turkey" by the government—continues with the DEM Party and the leader of the terrorist organization PKK, Abdullah Öcalan, attention has turned to "legal regulations."

The DEM Party front, which frequently calls for a framework law, has recently begun organizing "freedom rallies" for the leader of the terrorist organization PKK, Abdullah Öcalan.

PKK terrorist Çetin Arkaş, who attacked the Çetinkaya store in Istanbul's Bakırköy district in 1991 and murdered 12 citizens, also attended the rally organized by the DEM Party in Mersin.

Arkaş, who is part of the group referred to as the İmralı secretariat for the terrorist leader Öcalan, made the following remarks regarding the second peace process, known as "Terror-Free Turkey": "If you are going to keep coming back to a repentance law, look at us, look at the tens of thousands in this square; do we look like we have any regrets? If my child were to come to this square as a repentant, is there anyone who would accept them as a child?"

This man (so to speak) is Çetin Arkaş... A PKK member who burned 12 civilians, including a baby, to death with Molotov cocktails in the 1991 Bakırköy Çetinkaya store massacre and served 30 years in prison for it.

He is also a companion of the terrorist leader Öcalan in İmralı prison.

HE HAD MURDERED 14 PEOPLE

Çetin Arkaş was convicted for the 1991 attack in which the Çetinkaya store in Istanbul's Bakırköy district was set on fire, resulting in the deaths of 12 people, including 8 women and a 2-year-old child.

Arkaş, whose release was postponed 8 times, spent 33 years in prison. Released from prison in July 2025 by the decision of the Enforcement Judgeship, Arkaş has since returned to the spotlight with his statements regarding the new peace process being conducted within the DEM Party.

Those who lost their lives in the attack were recorded as Ahmet Çetinkaya, Hasan Dervişoğlu, Merve Gül Bakkal (2 years old), Sezer Bakkal, Hatice Çelik, Habibe Çelik, Zübeyde Nadir, Şadiye Nadir, Rezzan Seda Kızılkırmızı, Süheyla Kızılkırmızı, Yaver Ağabeyli, and Şengül Aras.
