Scenarios regarding the attempt to conclude the IMM case on July 9: Barış Terkoğlu reports on behind-the-scenes discussions

The presiding judge of the IMM case announced that the hearing would be concluded on July 9, to which İmamoğlu responded, "I have said how many times that I would make my final defense, and you accepted it. What happened now? What will happen on July 9?" Journalist Barış Terkoğlu discussed the scenarios regarding the potential processes of the case.

Scenarios regarding the attempt to conclude the IMM case on July 9: Barış Terkoğlu reports on behind-the-scenes discussions

In his program on Onlar TV, Terkoğlu stated that 3 different scenarios are being discussed in political circles to answer the question, "What will happen in Turkey after July 9?"

Terkoğlu reported the discussions as follows:

"The first possibility for what will happen after July 9 is the initiation of a process to lift the parliamentary immunity of Özgür Özel's close team—such as Özgür Özel, Ali Mahir Başarır, Veli Ağbaba, Umut Akdoğan, Burhanettin Bulut, Turan Taşkın Özer, and Özgür Karabat—starting with the accumulation of summaries of proceedings in Ankara coming from Antalya, Uşak, the IMM, and the party congress case. Perhaps a move could be made on the eve of a new party within a month? This is the first possibility."

SECOND POSSIBILITY: OPERATION AGAINST MANSUR YAVAŞ

"The second possibility is that the wholesale change of the chief public prosecutor and 14 deputy chief public prosecutors in Ankara, with these individuals mostly consisting of names who have held important roles in operations involving the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, raises expectations of an operation in Ankara as well.

Already during this period, names including the Mayor of Haymana have switched from the CHP to the AKP with the thought, 'I might be subjected to an operation.'

For example, Çankaya is the district where the CHP is strongest, and you constantly see a message of 'An operation is coming for you' being sent by the pro-government media.

Could Ankara-based operations be coming, targeting municipalities that are important for the CHP—especially the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality—where calculations are being made, and which will determine the political agenda of the coming period and the presidential candidate?"

THIRD POSSIBILITY: NOTHING WILL HAPPEN

"The third scenario is this: nothing might happen. I asked some lawyers who are involved in these cases. They say, 'The presiding judge may have planned July 9 in his own mind, and it may actually have no meaning.' The court will be in recess between July 9 and August 10. This means that for 1 month and 1 day, İmamoğlu and his detained close aides will not be able to contact the public. They will only be able to convey messages to the outside through their lawyers."
