Scenes from the Feast of Sacrifice across the country: Hospital emergency rooms overflow with amateur butchers

On the first day of the Feast of Sacrifice, amateur butchers who wanted to slaughter their own animals ended up in the emergency room after accidentally cutting themselves.

In Erzincan, amateur butchers who attempted to slaughter their sacrificial animals following the morning Eid prayer on the first day of the holiday injured themselves.

Citizens who tried to slaughter the animals they had purchased themselves, or who were assisting in the slaughter in city centers, districts, towns, and villages, were injured by cutting tools or by being struck by the animals.

The amateur butchers, who were seen to have sustained knife wounds particularly on their hands, feet, and legs, flocked to the Mengücek Gazi Training and Research Hospital and private hospitals. After receiving treatment in the emergency rooms, the amateur butchers returned to finish butchering their animals after being discharged. It was learned that there were no patients in critical condition among those who arrived at the hospital.

SIMILAR SCENES IN ADANA

Following the Eid prayer, citizens in Adana began slaughtering their sacrificial animals.

Many amateur butchers accidentally cut their hands in the slaughter areas designated by municipalities or by the individuals themselves.

The amateur butchers were brought to hospitals by their relatives in private vehicles.

CUT HIS FINGERS

Ahmet Yavuz, who lives in the Büyükyıldız village of Tokat's central district, cut his fingers while trying to slaughter a sacrificial animal. With his hand covered in blood, Yavuz wrapped it in a cloth to stop the bleeding and arrived at the Tokat State Hospital by his own means.

Mustafa Aktaş (63), who was injured in Aksaray when a bovine animal struck the knife with its leg while he was slaughtering it, brought smiles to faces by saying, "Well, while I was slaughtering the sacrifice, it kicked the knife, and that cut my hand. I slaughter every year, and I used to make fun of people. But it seems it was our turn to experience it. It was a large animal, and I had the knife in my right hand. I put the knife to its neck, and when it swung its front leg, since the knife was in my hand, it grazed the surface of my left hand. Well, I don't know, it felt like someone was there before me; we started on the first morning of the holiday. I couldn't become famous while healthy, now I'm becoming famous." Citizens who saw him injured offered encouragement, saying, "They should give you a gold medal. You're the first one to arrive."

Hasan Teke (39) recounted his experience, saying, "It wasn't my first time, but my mother had a knife in her hand. It hit her. It happened while skinning. The knife touched me while skinning."

Those who injured themselves while slaughtering sacrifices in Sakarya, Kocaeli, Bolu, Zonguldak, and Düzce created a surge in hospitals.

In Kocaeli, Ahmet Akyürek, who was injured in his left hand while slaughtering a sacrifice, Özgür Ay, who was injured in his left thumb by a knife, and Yaşar Efe, who sustained a cut on his leg, were discharged from hospitals after their treatments.

BOLU

In Bolu, those who injured themselves during the slaughter of sacrificial animals applied to the hospital.

Those who were injured in various parts of their bodies during the slaughter arrived at the Bolu İzzet Baysal State Hospital Köroğlu Unit and the Bolu Abant İzzet Baysal University Training and Research Hospital emergency rooms.

So far, 21 amateur butchers have been treated in the city center.

ZONGULDAK

In Zonguldak, those who were injured in various parts of their bodies during the slaughter of sacrifices applied to emergency rooms.

So far in the city, 18 amateur butchers have been taken under treatment at various hospitals, primarily the Zonguldak Atatürk State Hospital.

SAKARYA

In Sakarya, citizens who were injured in various parts of their bodies also applied to the Sakarya Training and Research Hospital.

The citizens were discharged after their treatments.

Talha Gün, who was injured while toppling the animal, said, "I was pulling the animal, my arm got stuck between the rope and the iron, there is no cut."

Yaşar Koca said, "There is nothing, my finger broke while dealing with the rope."

In Düzce, some citizens who began slaughtering their sacrifices also injured themselves and arrived at the Düzce Atatürk State Hospital.

The injured applied to the hospital's emergency room.

The congestion in the emergency rooms continues.
