Schengen statement from Germany: How will visa procedures for Turkey continue?
Germany has implemented temporary border controls, but it has been emphasized that the visa issuance process for Turkey will not be affected by this situation and will continue as normal.
In a statement made by the German Embassy in Ankara, it was stated that the temporary border controls that began in Germany today were implemented to ensure safe, orderly, and legal entry, and the expression "the visa issuance process for Turkey will continue to operate normally and will not be affected by this situation" was used.
In the written statement made on social media, it was noted that temporary border controls would be carried out at German borders starting today for security and migration policy reasons, and it was stated that these controls aim to prevent the entry of individuals who do not have permission to enter the country.
The statement, which conveyed that the measure taken is in compliance with European Union law and was announced to Schengen partners in advance, emphasized that ensuring safe, orderly, and legal entry into Germany is the primary goal of this decision.
'VISA ISSUANCE PROCESS WILL CONTINUE TO OPERATE NORMALLY FOR TURKEY'
The statement pointed out that traveling between borders is still possible and that care will be taken to ensure that waiting times do not occur, using the phrase, "the visa issuance process for Turkey will continue to operate normally and will not be affected by this situation."
Germany had announced that it was expanding the controls it had already initiated at the borders with Austria, Switzerland, Czechia, and Poland to also include France, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Belgium, and Denmark.
Citing the fight against irregular migration as the reason for this, the German Federal Ministry of the Interior had stated that efforts would be made to ensure that border controls have as little impact as possible on the daily lives, trade, and travel of those who commute between Germany and these countries.
