Karadeniz Ereğli district, the search for the missing personnel from the Turkish-flagged ship "Kafkametler," which sank after hitting a breakwater due to a storm on November 19, 2023, continued on its 44th day.

Search and scanning activities conducted by land and sea involved personnel from the Coast Guard, the General Directorate of Coastal Safety, AFAD, and other teams.

The Nene Hatun Ship, which enhances the operational power of the General Directorate of Coastal Safety against ship accidents, marine pollution, and fires, is also participating in the efforts.

A ship salvage and wreck removal company is conducting search and wreck removal operations for the sunken ship under the supervision of the General Directorate of Maritime Affairs.

Meanwhile, dismantling work continues on the Cameroon-flagged cargo ship "Pallada," which broke in two and drifted aground on the same date.

The Turkish-flagged dry cargo ship "Kafkametler," which was carrying cargo from Russia to the Aliağa Port in İzmir, sank after hitting a breakwater in a military zone while departing from the Ereğli Port due to a storm that affected the Black Sea region on November 19, 2023. The bodies of 5 of the 12 Turkish crew members on board had been recovered.
