New development in the Seçil Erzan case: Increase in the number of complainants!

A new development has occurred in the fraud case that shook Turkey. A 4-minute and 39-second voice recording entered into the case file has led to new allegations being raised.

CONVERSATION HELD AS IF WITH A BANK OFFICIAL

One of the complainants in the case, İnci Çeviker, had recorded a phone conversation she had with Seçil Erzan. In the phone call, Seçil Erzan connected a third party, whom she referred to as a bank official, to the line to have them discuss the money to be provided with İnci Çeviker. In the phone conversation, Seçil Erzan tells İnci Çeviker that the person speaking is Ali Böcügöz, who works in the bank's custody department.

FIRST CALLED ALİ YÖRÜK, THEN MERT ZEYDANLI

It was initially alleged that the person introduced as a bank official in this phone call was Ali Yörük, who is being tried as a suspect in the file. Later, in her testimony, Seçil Erzan claimed that the person involved in this phone conversation was businessman Mert Zeydanlı, who is listed as a complainant in the file. 

 Following these allegations, the prosecutor's office launched a separate investigation regarding the voice recording. As part of the investigation, the testimony of businessman Mert Zeydanlı was taken. In his testimony, Mert Zeydanlı stated, "I listened to and read the transcripts of the conversation in question; the male individual in the conversations is definitely not me. I never introduced myself as a bank employee. I do not agree with the statements of the person named Seçil Erzan."

VOICE COMPARISON CONDUCTED

The prosecutor's office compared the voice of the person speaking as a bank official in the 4-minute and 39-second recording with the voice of businessman Mert Zeydanlı. The prosecutor's office prepared a report following the comparison and voice analysis. The prepared report stated: "Upon the allegation in the testimony of suspect Seçil Erzan that the person who conducted these conversations was Mert Zeydanlı, investigation proceedings were initiated against Mert Zeydanlı under the assessment that he acted in concert with suspect Seçil Erzan; however, it was determined that the voice of the person in the voice recordings related to the incident did not show similarity to the voice of suspect Mert Zeydanlı."

DECISION OF NON-PROSECUTION ISSUED

Following the investigation, the prosecutor's office decided that the person introduced by Seçil Erzan as a bank official, Ali Böcügöz, was not businessman Mert Zeydanlı. Based on the available evidence, a decision of non-prosecution was issued regarding Mert Zeydanlı within the scope of this investigation.

NUMBER OF COMPLAINANTS REACHED 22

In the latest hearing, the number of complainants in the Seçil Erzan case, which was 21, rose to 22 following the inclusion of İnci Çeviker in the case file.

FIRST REPORTS ADDED TO THE CASE FILE

There has also been a new development in the court file. The initial expert examination reports of the mobile phones of suspects Seçil Erzan, Nazlı Can, and Hüseyin Kurtuluş, which were part of the investigation conducted by the Public Prosecutor's Office, have been added to the court's files.

The voice recordings of the 4-minute and 39-second conversation obtained by complainant İnci Çeviker were entered into the file as follows...

(Since it is assessed that the voice recording was taken inside a car, sounds coming from outside are heard in certain parts.)

İNCİ ÇEVİKER: There is no program, it's on your phone itself.

ALİ BÖCÜGÖZ: I mean, Seçil, let me put it this way, since we entered your transaction in 2 parts, we are doing our best to finish it today, we are putting up a fight, but if it doesn't finish, it will be in your hands tomorrow at 10:00.

SEÇİL ERZAN: But I can't explain this to the customer, that's the thing.

ALİ BÖCÜGÖZ: But I mean, we are trying to finish it, and you know the amount we are going to bring is not a small amount. (The phone hangs up)

ALİ BÖCÜGÖZ: There must be a problem with the lines, I guess..

SEÇİL ERZAN: A phone call is coming in, I'm putting it on busy, I accidentally put you on busy.

ALİ BÖCÜGÖZ: As I said, we are trying to finish it today, so if it finishes, we will give you information by five-thirty or six o'clock anyway, but if it doesn't finish, the amount will be with you tomorrow morning at 10:00.

SEÇİL ERZAN: Okay, Ms. İnci, do you want to ask anything?

İNCİ ÇEVİKER: (coughing sound) What should I ask...

ALİ BÖCÜGÖZ: Let's be a little patient until 10:00 in the morning; I mean, there is no obstacle for it not to finish right now.

SEÇİL ERZAN: Honestly, I am very much in the middle, under suspicion.

ALİ BÖCÜGÖZ: I mean, let me put it this way, there doesn't seem to be any problem until 10:00 tomorrow morning.

SEÇİL ERZAN: Well, how will it be tomorrow morning at 10:00, I mean, will I take İnci again and come there?
