Selvi gives a date for early elections: 'My expectation is...'

Hürriyet newspaper columnist Abdulkadir Selvi wrote in his column today that a decision for an early election could be taken six months or a year before the scheduled date.

The relevant section of Selvi's article is as follows:

“My expectation is that there will be an early election. However, a decision for an early election could be taken 6 months or 1 year before 2028. The CHP has started to lose votes due to its presidential candidacy debates and internal conflicts. If the CHP continues to decline, and with the improvement of the economy and the threat of regional war, Erdoğan could rise again to the position of the strongest candidate. In this case, we could go to the election with multiple candidates.”

'IT IS NOT OVER UNTIL ERDOĞAN SAYS IT IS OVER'

“Despite his special situation, Ekrem İmamoğlu, Mansur Yavaş with his support in public opinion polls, and Özgür Özel as a result of changing balances within the CHP, are all in the running for presidential candidacy. In the DEM Party, the name of Selahattin Demirtaş is being strongly discussed this time. Fatih Erbakan is also among the potential candidates. But what will determine this process will be the attitude of President Erdoğan. This business is not over until Erdoğan says 'It is over'."
