Selvi, who told FETÖ leader Gülen to 'come back', responds to Ali Koç's 'pineapple' remark: 'If I gave away my zakat, it would equal 40 Ali Koçs'
The FETÖ controversy between Hürriyet columnist Abdulkadir Selvi and Fenerbahçe President Ali Koç is escalating. After Selvi criticized Fenerbahçe by asking, "Did you find nothing else to use but the phrase 'Peace at home, peace in the world,' which was used by FETÖ members during the July 15 coup attempt?", Ali Koç had responded by saying, "You are a man who wept and slobbered for FETÖ." In his column today, Selvi targeted Ali Koç with harsh words. Selvi stated, "While you were eating FETÖ's pineapples, I was fighting against them."
While the controversies created by the Super Cup crisis that could not be played in Saudi Arabia remain on the agenda, Hürriyet columnist Abdulkadir Selvi has ignited the "FETÖ" debate between himself and Fenerbahçe President Ali Koç with his column today.
"YOU ARE A MAN WHO WEPT AND SLOBBERED..."
The Super Cup final, which was planned to be played in Riyadh on December 29, was postponed after the Fenerbahçe and Galatasaray teams were not allowed to take the field with Atatürk t-shirts and banners.
Selvi had written an article targeting Koç and Fenerbahçe, stating, "Did you find nothing else to use for the match to be played in Saudi Arabia but the phrase 'Peace at home, peace in the world,' which was used by FETÖ members during the July 15 coup attempt?"
Ali Koç, in a television program he attended, responded to Selvi's article by saying, "They are linking our 'Peace at home, peace in the world' banner to FETÖ; you are a man who once wept and slobbered for FETÖ, who are you to associate Fenerbahçe with FETÖ?"
"HE HAS PUT ME ON THE TARGET BOARD"
Selvi responded to Ali Koç in his column today. Asking, "Erdoğan evaluated what happened as an attempt at provocation. I also drew attention to this provocation in my articles. As an experienced journalist, is it a crime for me to point out the same danger as the President?" Selvi said, "He panicked when President Erdoğan reacted. When he couldn't target Erdoğan, he put me on the target board."
"YOU WERE BUSY EATING THE PINEAPPLES GIFTED BY FETÖ"
Selvi said, "I do not address him as 'ulan' (a derogatory term). That expression suits Ali Koç, but it does not suit me," and responded as follows to Ali Koç's accusations regarding FETÖ:
"Ali Koç, I am a journalist who stood tall against FETÖ during the February 7 MİT crisis. I was the first to object, saying, 'The real target here is Erdoğan.' While you were opening the Divan Hotel to the looters during Gezi, I was fighting on television screens, saying, 'This is an attempted uprising.' During the December 17-25 period, I argued that FETÖ's real goal was to handcuff Erdoğan. During the July 15 coup attempt, I was on air with Erdoğan at CNN Türk that night. I fought against FETÖ's coup attempt at the risk of my life. You were busy eating the pineapples gifted by FETÖ at that time. The late Mustafa Koç had explained in an interview that he had met with FETÖ. He confirmed the pineapples mentioned in the FETÖ audio recording and said, 'Pineapples were sent to me. I called and thanked them. They were quite delicious.' FETÖ did not send me pineapples. Ali Koç, while you were eating FETÖ's pineapples, I was fighting against FETÖ. FETÖ filed 17 criminal complaints against me. Has a single criminal complaint been filed against you? If I gave away the zakat of the struggle I waged against FETÖ, it would equal 40 Ali Koçs..."
