Sentence handed down to attacker who assaulted Sinan Ateş's sister

The suspect who attacked the family of the murdered former Ülkü Ocakları President Sinan Ateş during the trial regarding his assassination has been arrested.

Mertcan Kılıç, who attacked sister Selma Ateş while she was waiting in the courtyard for the verdict to be announced in the murder trial of former Ülkü Ocakları President Sinan Ateş in Ankara, has been arrested on charges of simple assault against a woman.

WHAT HAPPENED?

In the murder trial of former Ülkü Ocakları President Sinan Ateş in Ankara, an individual attacked Sinan Ateş's family in the courtyard one hour before the verdict was announced yesterday. The attacker was taken into custody. Sinan Ateş's mother, Saniye Ateş, was taken to the hospital.

Following the attack, Selma Ateş said, "I knew we would be attacked. If this attack had succeeded, you would have watched my murder as well. Would you have asked for justice for Selma? I said that if anything happens to me, I hold the names I listed responsible. They say Selma Ateş said this, Selma Ateş said that. My brother was murdered in the middle of the street. Should I stay silent?"

"IF ANYTHING HAPPENS TO ME, THE MHP AND ÜLKÜ OCAKLARI ARE RESPONSIBLE"

Ateş made the following statements:

"If anything happens to me, the MHP and Ülkü Ocakları are responsible for it. Izzet Ulvi Yönter, Semih Yalçın, and the other names are responsible. I will continue until Sinan Ateş's account is settled. I do not know the attacker, Mertcan Kılıç; I am hearing his name for the first time."

BAHÇELİ HAD TARGETED HER

MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli had targeted Sinan Ateş's mother, Saniye Ateş, who said she would not forgive him during a group meeting, with the following words: "I will not let those who orchestrate organized Pennsylvania operations against the MHP trample on either the Ülkü Ocakları or the MHP. Özgür Özel, I am speaking to you; your claims are as rotten as the person himself. Speaking into every microphone that comes your way, regardless of your age, and becoming a figurehead for political provocation is something that does not suit a lady at all. Everyone should know their place. We will not let owls hoot in front of our door. We will pluck and tear off the wings of the vultures that flap them."
