The prosecution's final opinion has been presented in the trial of Bedirhan Şener, the son of former minister Abdüllatif Şener, who shot and killed his grandmother, Leyla Çetiner, in Ankara. In its opinion, the prosecution stated that Şener also attempted to kill his mother, Berrin Şener, and requested that he be sentenced to aggravated life imprisonment plus 14 to 23 years in prison.
OBJECTION TO REPORT STATING FULL CRIMINAL RESPONSIBILITY
The hearing at the Ankara 1st High Criminal Court was attended by the detained defendant Bedirhan Şener, his family, and their lawyers. The presiding judge announced that a report from the 4th Specialization Department of the Council of Forensic Medicine, stating that the defendant Şener has full criminal responsibility, had been added to the case file.

Defense attorney Can Kızılyar argued that the forensic report was based on an incomplete examination and submitted a report his client had received from the Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Mental Health and Diseases, to the file. Kızılyar requested that a new report be obtained from the Council of Forensic Medicine. Following the attorney's statement, the presiding judge gave the floor to the prosecutor to present their opinion on the merits.
PROSECUTION PRESENTS FINAL OPINION
In their opinion, the prosecutor stated that Şener killed his grandmother, Leyla Çetiner, with a firearm and attempted to kill his mother, Berrin Şener.
The prosecutor requested that Şener be sentenced to aggravated life imprisonment and 14 to 23 years in prison for the crimes of "intentional killing of an ascendant," "attempted intentional killing of an ascendant," and "violation of the Law on Firearms," and requested that the defendant's detention continue.

After the statements, the court announced its interim decision, rejecting the defense attorney's request for a new report. The court ruled for the continuation of the defendant's detention and adjourned the hearing to February 27.
