Sewage water flows into the sea in Üsküdar: Ministry launches investigation

Teams from the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change have launched an inspection in the area after evaluating a report regarding wastewater discharge into the sea in the Çengelköy neighborhood of Üsküdar, Istanbul.

Stating that necessary actions will be taken against the institutions or organizations involved in the incident, the Ministry shared the following on its social media account:

"Following a report of wastewater discharge into the sea in front of the Kuleli Military High School in Istanbul, our Ministry's inspection teams have been directed to the area. Investigations are ongoing to determine the source of the wastewater. As a result of the investigation, necessary actions will be taken against the institutions or organizations causing the wastewater discharge."

Sewage water had flowed into the sea on the coast of Kuleli Street in the Çengelköy neighborhood, partly due to the effect of rainfall.

Environmental pollution occurred at the point where the water flowed into the Bosphorus, and it was observed that the sea surface had turned brown where the sewage water was flowing.
