Sharp criticism of radar fines from AKP figure

Traffic measures taken on highways ahead of the Eid al-Adha holiday were announced by Minister of Interior Ali Yerlikaya. Yerlikaya stated that there would be a radar every 30 kilometers on the highways and that a total of 120 radars would be in operation. He emphasized that these announcements aim to prevent loss of life in traffic.

However, these measures were criticized by AKP member Şamil Tayyar. In a post on his social media account, Tayyar stated that radar fines have caused controversy among citizens. He particularly drew attention to the fact that speed limits are relaxed for protocol vehicles.

RADAR IMPLEMENTATION AND REACTIONS

Following the criticisms, the Ministry of Interior shared a map of the areas where radars are located and the implementation points with the public.

Stating that the radar implementation has received reactions from broad segments of society, Tayyar said, 'Instead of listening to public anger, perception management is being conducted with certain accounts. Our objection is to lawlessness and cunning.' 

'DOES IT EXIST FOR CITIZEN ALI BUT NOT FOR MINISTER ALI?'

AKP member Tayyar also brought up the speed at which protocol vehicles travel with sirens, continuing his remarks as follows:

'In that case, the priority task is clear:

-Standards must be ensured in the rules.

-Signage must be installed.

Furthermore, if the protection of human life is intended through speed control, there should be no exemptions in the rules.

Just as in Western countries where there are plenty of radar examples.

One must ask those who explain the need to pass through a place at 30 km/h with the metaphor of 'what if a child jumps out from there'.

Does this risk exist for citizen Ali, but not for Minister Ali, Governor Davut, Deputy Şamil, or General Manager Mahmut?

In other words, if a citizen does not comply with the speed limit on that road, they are risking someone's life, but when the protocol entourage passes by at 180 km/h with dozens of vehicles with sirens, this risk suddenly disappears, is that it?

Let us remove the traps in implementation and the arbitrariness and exemptions in the rules, then you can put radars wherever you want, and you can set the standard for the speed limit.
