Sharp increase in motorcycle fines: 47,000 TL fine for stunts and racing
An action plan prepared to prevent motorcycle accidents has been announced. According to the draft, drivers who race or perform acrobatic maneuvers in traffic will be fined 47,000 Turkish Lira. Drivers who run red lights will lose their licenses on the 6th violation. A fine of 186,000 Turkish Lira will be imposed on individuals who drive while their driver's license is temporarily suspended or revoked.
New regulations are being introduced for motorcycles, the number of which has nearly doubled in traffic over the last five years.
Minister of Interior Ali Yerlikaya presented an action plan aimed at reducing motorcycle accidents.
The draft law proposes increasing the fine for not wearing a helmet to 1,500 lira for the first violation and up to 9,000 lira for subsequent violations.
Additionally, the draft law includes some new rules for motorcycle riders that did not exist before.

47,000 LIRA FINE
Minister Yerlikaya stated that they have added a new clause for "performing acrobatic maneuvers" and spoke as follows:
'The fine is 47,000 lira, we seize the license for 60 days, and we ban the vehicle from traffic for 60 days. If they are racing in flowing traffic, it is 47,000 lira. We seize the license for 2 years and ban the motorcycle from traffic for 60 days. Because these two offenses, the situations where these two traffic fines are committed, are the most high-risk areas. That is why we do not want to issue such fines to anyone, but the penalty is now a deterrent.'

10-FOLD FINE FOR UNLICENSED DRIVERS
Pointing out that fines for driving without a license have been increased, Yerlikaya said, 'Driving without a license requires a fine of 18,677 lira. However, we have introduced a new regulation today; if the driver's license has been temporarily revoked and they are still driving, the fine will increase 10-fold; they should not take it personally. If their license has been taken away and they continue to drive, then we impose a fine of 186,000 lira.'
Some of the regulations included in the draft are as follows...
LICENSE REVOCATION ON 6TH VIOLATION FOR RUNNING RED LIGHTS
According to the prepared draft, the fine to be imposed on those who run red lights is also increasing.
In this case, the monetary fine will increase with each violation, and on the 6th violation, a fine of 80,000 lira will be issued, and the driver's license will also be revoked.

FINE FOR NOT WEARING A HELMET INCREASES TO 1,500 LIRA
The fine for not wearing a helmet will be increased from 993 lira to 1,500 lira. On the second violation, this fine will be 3,000 lira, and for the third and subsequent violations, it will go up to 9,000 lira.
